FRIENDS OF MUCKROSS AT A GLANCE
A Bit of Background
Muckross State Park officially came into existence in the summer of 2016. Edgar May, the owner of the property before his passing in 2012, had been working with the State for his home to be turned into a community-oriented state park with an emphasis on serving children.
Work at the Park has been steadily progressing with the road and bridge rebuilt this past year. In addition, Edgar's wish for the Park to serve the children of the area can be seen in the summer camp the Park has run since 2015 with support from members of the NCCC and in cooperation with the town's Summer Daze program. As the Park's infrastructure is not yet ready for full time use by campers, the summer program has been based on an abutting property with easy access to Muckross. The hope is to relocate the camp to Muckross itself this summer, or more likely the summer of 2020.
The Vermont State Parks webpage has links to all of its parks, including Muckross.
